Quench Not the Spirit

The Blind Leading the Blind.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 “Quench  Not The  Spirit!”
These  are sobering words! From the  Scriptures, it appears  possible,  that  we  can
 put out, that we can  extinguish  something that we so desperately  need
as part of our  lives!  In  this  study,  we’ll examine  this  possibility,  and
also how  to  avoid it!
Let’s  first examine  this  phrase  within  the Scriptures!
1Th 5:19   Quench  not the  Spirit. (MNT)
1Th 5:19   Do  not put  out the  light of the  Spirit; (BBE)
4570   sbennumi- (Thayers)
to extinguish,  quench:
a) used of fire or things on fire;
to be quenched,  to  go  out
b) metaphorically to quench,  to  suppress,  to  stifle;
used of divine influence
To put  something out, to extinguish something, takes  a conscious  effort  on  our
part…it  just  doesn’t happen without  our involvement! To go contrary to what this
warning  Scripture tells  us, will bring  much  suffering and  pain  upon  ourselves,  and
upon others!
De 30:19 I call heaven and  earth to record this day  against you, that I  have  set
before you life and  death,  blessing  and cursing: therefore
choose life,  that  both
you  and your   seed may  live:
(KJV)
We see  in  the above  Scripture,  for us to choose not to quench the  Spirit, has
a  much  better  outcome!  Let’s now  turn  our focus  to  some  key and
important  words in the  Thayers definition above, extinguish,  suppress,
and  stifle.
Webster’s  New World  Dictionary – College  Edition;
  • 1) extinguish ~ to  smother,  to  put an end  to, cause  to  die out, wipe out,
     destroy.
  • 2) suppress ~ to  put down by force, subdue,  quell,  crush,  to  abolish by
     authority,  to keep from appearing  or  being known, keep back,  restrain,
    conceal.
  • 3) stifle ~ suffocate, hold back.
What can  we  do  as  a believer to keep from doing  what  is  mentioned above? We
certainly  don’t want to stifle,  suppress, smother, suffocate, or cause  to  die…this
precious gift given  to  us  at  repentance  and immersion!
When a  person  becomes anemic,  isn’t it the  result  of  an  improper  diet…the  body
not  getting the  proper  nutrition?  Can a  person  become  spiritually anemic…due to
an improper diet as well?  I personally think  so…I  must  ask you  (myself
included!)…how is your spiritual  health…how  is  your  spiritual diet?  Are you  getting
the  proper  spiritual vitamins?  Or  do  you need a  spiritual multi- vitamin?
We must not  let a  man,  a group  of  men,  or  an  organization, tell us what we are
to ingest in order  to  be  a healthy  believer! We are  to  become  spiritually mature
ourselves, with the  ability to discern  what  is  healthy,  and what is not!
1Th 5:21 Prove all  things; hold fast that which  is  good. (KJV)
1Th 5:21 Let  all things be tested;  keep  to  what  is  good; (BBE)
1Th 5:21 But try all,  holding fast to the  good. (MNT)
 To  prove,  to  test, to try, requires all  of  us  to  be  scriptural  investigators!  We  must
be 21
st
  century Bereans, not  head  bobbers!
Ac 17:10 And  the brothers immediately  sent  Paul  and Silas  away  by  night to
 Berea.  They, when  they  arrived,  went  into  the synagogue  of  the Jews.
(11)
And  these were more noble  than  those of Thessalonica,  in  that  they  received
the Word with all  readiness of mind and
searched the  Scriptures  daily to see  if
those  things were so.
(MKJV)
The  brethren  of  the assembly at Ephesus  used  this  approach, let’s  investigate!
Re 2:2 I  know  your  works and  your  labor and  your  patience, and  how you
cannot bear those who  are evil.  And
you  tried those  pretending  to  be  apostles
and  are not, and  have found  them  liars.
(MKJV)
Are  there false  apostles, false  teachers  amongst us today? ABSOLUTELY!  If  we
are  letting the  Spirit  work  in  us, we should be able to see  the truth. We shouldn’t
need someone  attempting  to  reveal  to  us  what  is  true  from  the pulpit,  we  should
be able,  with  the Spirit within us,  to  see truth!
Joh 14:16   And  I will ask  the Father,  and He will give you  another Helper,  to
be with you  always--
the  Spirit  of  Truth
. (TCNT)
26 But  the Counselor, the  Set-apart (Holy) Spirit,  whom  the Father will send in my name,
  he will
teach  you all  things,  and will remind you  of  all that I  said  to  you.
(WEB)
In the  old organization,  the parent organization,  the pre-1995 organization,  wasn’t
the  approach… “pray and  pay…send  in  your  tithes…we will do the  work…we will
prepare  your  spiritual diet…we  will  make  sure  that  you make it into the  kingdom!”
But  did they do their  job?  Are they doing  their job  today?
Eze 34:2 Son  of  man,  prophesy  against the  shepherds of Israel,  prophesy, and
say  unto them,  Thus  says  the Master
(Lord) Yahweh (GOD) unto  the shepherds;
Woe  be  to  the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves!  Should  not the
shepherds  feed  the flocks?
(KJV)
You  eat the  fat and  clothe  yourselves  with  the wool;  you kill the  fat ones,  but
you  do not  feed  the flock.
(MKJV)
4 The weak you  have  not strengthened,  nor have you  healed  those who  were
sick,  nor bound up the  broken, nor  brought back what was  driven  away, nor
sought what was  lost; but  with  force and  cruelty you  have  ruled them.
(NKJV)
5 So  they  were  scattered,  because there  was no shepherd;  and they became food
for  all the wild beasts.
(RSV)
8 As I  live, says the  Master (Lord) Yahweh,  surely  because my sheep  became  a
prey,  and my sheep  became  food  to  all the  animals of the  field,  because there
was  no shepherd,  neither did  my  shepherds search for  my  sheep,  but the  shepherds
fed themselves,  and didn't feed my sheep;
(WEB)
Eze 34:9   Therefore, O  you shepherds, hear the  word  of  Yahweh (the LORD);
(KJV)
10 Thus says the  Master (Lord) Yahweh (GOD): "Behold,  I  am  against the
shepherds
, and  I will require  My  flock at their  hand; I  will  cause them to
cease  feeding the  sheep, and  the shepherds  shall feed themselves no
more;  for I  will  deliver My flock  from  their mouths, that they may  no
longer be food for  them."
(NKJV)
If the  organization  that  is  feeding you  is  lukewarm, is spiritually  anemic…you  will
be as
well!  We  are what we eat…and  we  all need a
Spiritual  Buffet
…where
we can  taste different  foods,  eat what we like,  and what tastes good to us!
We should be mature enough to abstain  from  the food that our  taste buds reject!
I  certainly won’t  allow anyone to spoon  feed  me  anymore,  or  tell  me  what  I can
 eat!  I did  that  for years! I  don’t feel anemic anymore! HalleluYah!!!  Praise  YAH!
We need to pray for  our talents, our  gifts to be utilized…to  be  re-kindled…to be
revived! These  were  frowned upon in our  previous  organization, the  ‘clergy’  and
not  the laity  were  to  exercise  these…this  was the  pray  and pay  mentality!
Re 3:11   Behold,  I come quickly. Hold fast to that which  you have,  so that no
one  may
take  your  crown
. (MKJV)
We all  must  wake  up! We have all  been  lukewarm, we have all  been  asleep  at
 the wheel! Before we crash, there  is  time  for all  of  us  to  get healthier!
Php 2:12   Therefore, my beloved, as you  have  always  obeyed, so now, not  only
as in my presence  but much more in my absence,
work out  your  own salvation
with fear and
trembling;
(RSV)
We all  need  to  get busy in our  spiritual gardens, pulling  up  the weeds  that  may
be taking nutrition  from  the good plants.  We  are responsible  for our  own
salvation, we won’t  be  able  to  point our  finger  at  anyone  but ourselves!
Re 22:12 Behold,  I come quickly. My reward is with me,  to  repay  to  each  man
according
to his  work.
(WEB)
When the  call  comes to meet the  returning Messiah, our  Bridegroom,
we want to be ready…
remember…we  all sleep…but
we all  want  to  wake  up  and definitely be prepared!
Mt 25:1   Then shall  the kingdom  of  heaven  be  likened unto ten  virgins,  which
took theirlamps,  and went forth  to  meet  the bridegroom
. (KJV)
2 And  five  of  them  were  foolish,  and five were wise. (ASV)
3 For  the foolish, when they took their  lights, took no oil  with  them. (BBE)
4 but  the prudent  took  oil in their  vessels with their  torches. (DBY)
5 While  the bridegroom tarried, they all  slumbered and  slept. (MKJV)
6 But  at  midnight  there arose  a cry, "'Behold,  the bridegroom!  Go  out to meet
him!'
(MNT)
7 Then all  those virgins  arose and  trimmed their  lamps. (NKJV)
8 And  the foolish  said  to  the wise,  'Give us some of your oil, for  our lamps  are
9 But  the prudent  ones  answered  'No,  for fear that there  will  not be enough for
you and  for us.  Go  instead to those  who sell it,  and buy  for yourselves.'
(TCNT)
10 While  they  went  away  to  buy,  the bridegroom came,  and those  who were
ready  went in with him  to  the marriage feast, and  the door was  shut
. (WEB)
11 Afterwards the  other bridesmaids  came  and cried, "`Sir, Sir, open the  door  to
us.'
12 `In  solemn  truth I  tell  you,' he replied, `I do not  know  you.' (WNT)
13 `Watch therefore, for  you have not  known the  day nor  the hour in which the
Son  of Man  does  come
. (YLT)
These  are sobering Scriptures…we  need  to  take  them  all to heart…and  truly do an
inward search.  We  need  to  ask ourselves…how  is  my  spiritual garden doing? Do
my plants need more water…more Light…better soil…are there  too many weeds  in
my garden?
It is time to get  busy  and get  our spiritual  lives in order! If we start  now…there
is ample  time…but  the sand is running  out of the  hour  glass.
I  would like to end  with  another poem written  especially  for this study
paper..…
THANKS RIW!
 "The Blind  Leading the  Blind
(or  Blind and  Blinder!!!)
Some of you  have  probably  seen  the comedy "Dumb  and Dumber", where  one of
the  actors  truly appeared to be 'dumber' than the  other.  Humanity  does  appear  to
have a  stupid  gene, a  dumb  gene! When you  study the  history of humanity from
the  Garden  of  Eden  to  our day, you  can come to no other  conclusion! What
about  religion? Can  the same be applied? Personally,  I have to say  ABSOLUTELY!
Let's  research  the true source of all  wisdom  and see  what  it  has to say!
Isa 56:10-12
10
His  watchmen  are blind:  they  are all  ignorant, they are  all dumb dogs, they
cannot bark; sleeping, lying  down, loving to slumber. {sleeping:  or, dreaming,
or talking  in  their sleep
} (KJV)
11
Yea, the  dogs  are greedy,  they  can never  have  enough; and  these are  shepherds
that cannot
understand
:  they  have  all turned to their  own way, each one  to  his gain,
from every  quarter
. (ASV)
12 Come,  they  say,  I will get  wine, and  we  will  take  strong  drink in full measure; and
tomorrow will be  like  today,  full  of  pleasure.
(BBE)
H5787 òåÌø ‛ivvêr  (iv-vare')
Intensive  from  H5786;
(literally or figuratively): - blind  (men, people).
H5786
òåø ‛âvar (aw-var')
A  primitive root rather denominative from H5785  through the  idea  of  film over the  eyes;
to blind: - put  out
Isn't  this  the way  that  religion  appears today? Do the  watchmen  appear  to  be
blind, greedy,  speechless, and  without understanding? I  have  to  answer  yes!
Religion has  become  a money  making  corporation,  full  of  hypocrisy and  lies!
Yahshua  had much to say  about this very subject!
Mt 23:16, 24, 14-15, 17
16 Woe  to  you (Scribes and  Pharisees), you blind  guides,  who say,
'Whoever swears by the  temple, it is nothing; but  whoever swears by
the  gold  of  the temple,  he  is  obligated.'
(WEB)
24 You  blind  guides,  straining out  the gnat while  you gulp down the
camel!
(WNT)
14 Alas for  you,  Teachers  of  the Law  and Pharisees, hypocrites that you
are! You  destroy widow's houses,  even  while pretending to make long
prayers; therefore  you shall  receive greater condemnation.
(TCNT)
15 Alas for  you,  Scribes and  Pharisees,  hypocrites,  for you  scour sea
and  land  in  order to win  one convert--and  when  he  is  gained, you  make
him  twice as much a  son of Gehenna  as  yourselves
.  (WNT)
17 You  fools and  blind:  for which  is  greater,  the gold,  or  the temple
that has  sanctified  the gold?
(ASV)
We can  glean from all  of  these Scriptures that the  teachers  are;  (1) blind
(2)  ignorant  (3) dumb (4)  greedy  (5) without  understanding (6)  hypocritical
(7)  AND ARE  FOOLS!!!
I'm  not judging  the teachers...NO!...the Scriptures are  doing that for  me! Through
YeshaYahu  (Isaiah)  and Yahshua  Himself!  Other prophets as well have much to
say  about this!
Eze 34:2-4
2 Son  of  man,  be  a prophet  against the  keepers of the  flock of Yisrael, and  say
to them,  O keepers of the  sheep!  This  is  the word of Yahweh
(the Lord):  A  curse
is on the  keepers of the  flock of Yisrael who  take  the food for  themselves! Is it
not
right  for the  keepers to give the  food  to  the sheep? (BBE)
3 You take the  milk  and are  clothed with the  wool, you  put the  fat beasts to death,
but  you give the sheep  no  food
. (BBE)
4 You  haven't strengthened the  diseased, neither  have  you healed that which  was sick,
neither  have  you bound  up  that  which was  broken, neither  have  you brought  back
that which  was driven away, neither  have  you sought that which  was lost;  but with
force  and with harshness
(rigor) have you  ruled over them. (WEB)
If I  was a  paid  minister  of  a large  denomination, or a  paid  pastor  of  a
congregation,  I think  that  I would  seriously take all  of  these scriptures to heart!
Last Shabat (Sabbath), our  fellowship  listened  to  a taped  sermon  from  a pastor of
our  old stomping ground,  the United Church of G-d. This pastor learned  about
our  interest  concerning  the Hebrew Personal Names  of  the Heavenly Father and
His  Son.
To us,  what  he  said  to  the flock  in  this  sermon, was  nothing but  lies  and was
very deceitful! We also feel that his  message was  very  disrespectful to our
Heavenly Father and  to  our Savior!  To  us  it  was also very close  to  blasphemy!
The  Scriptures  also  have  much  to  say about  this! Let's investigate!
Mal 1:6
A  son gives  honour  to  his father,  and a  servant has  fear  of  his master:  if  then  I
am a  father, where is my honour?  And if I  am  a master,  where is the  fear  of
me?  Says  Yahweh
(the Lord)
of armies  to  you,  O  priests,  who give no value  to
my Name
.  And you  say,  How have we not  given value to your Name?
(BBE)
This is exactly  what  the pastor did  in  his sermon,  HE  DISPUTED  THE
IMPORTANCE OF USING  THE HEBREW NAMES!!! He twisted  the Scriptures
to fit  his untruthful message!
Mal 1:7-8, 11
You  offer defiled  bread upon My altar; and  you say, In what way  have  we  defiled You?
In your saying, The  table of Yahweh
(the LORD), it is a  thing to be despised. (MKJV)
And  when  you offer  the blind  as  a sacrifice, Is it not  evil?
And  when  you offer  the lame and sick,
Is it not  evil? Offer  it  then  to  your  governor! Would  he  be  pleased with you?
Would  he  accept you  favorably?" Says Yahweh
(the LORD)  of hosts. (NKJV)
11 For  from  the rising of the  sun even to its  going in,  My Name shall  be  great among  the
nations; and everywhere incense  shall be offered  to  My  Name,
and  a pure food offering.
For  My  Name  shall be great  among the  nations, says Yahweh
(the LORD) of hosts.(MKJV)
If this was  the best that the  UCG pastor could  offer to Yahweh and  to  his flock,
it truly  was a  lame  message,  full  of  blindness,  full  of  deceit, full of pabulum, i.e
soft food for  babes!  The flock  was truly  being entertained, the  laughter  could be
heard  in  the background.  Sadly,  it  must  have  been  what  they  wanted  to  hear,
what they could  bear! Truly, HOW  SAD!!!
2Ti 4:3-4
3 For  the time is coming when people will not  endure  sound teaching,  but
having itching  ears  they will accumulate for  themselves  teachers  to  suit  their
own  likings, (RSV)
4 They will turn a  deaf  ear to the  Truth,  and give their  attention to legends
instead.
(TCNT)
1Co 3:1-2
But  I,  Brothers, could  not speak  to  you as men  with  spiritual insight, but  only
as worldly-minded-mere  infants in the  Faith of Messiah
(Christ). (TCNT)
2 I fed  you with milk,  not solid  food; for  you were not  ready for  it; and  even
yet  you are  not ready,
(RSV)
Heb 5:12-14
12
For though by this time you  ought to be teachers,  you need someone  to  teach
you  again the first  principles  of  the oracles  of  Elohim
(God);  and  you have come
to need milk and  not solid  food.
  (NKJV)
13 For  every one  who feeds  on  milk  is  inexperienced in the  word  of  righteousness.
He is still  an infant.
(MNT)
14 But  solid food is for  men of full growth,  even  for those  whose senses are
trained  by  use to see what is good and  what  is  evil.
(BBE)
1Pe 2:2
As newborn  babes,  desire  the sincere  milk  of  the word,  that you  may grow
thereby
:
(KJV)
We are  told  within  the Scriptures that the  Set-apart Spirit will guide  us  in  the
way  of  all truth! My question is,  are the  teachers  and the  flocks  who refuse to
let  the Spirit guide  them  concerning  the Personal Names, blaspheming  the Ruach
ha Qodesh (the Spirit)? Could  they  be  in  danger  of  quenching the  Spirit?
Joh 16:13
However  when  he, the  Spirit  of  truth,  has come,  he  will  guide you  into  all truth,
for  he  will  not speak from himself; but  whatever  he  hears,  he  will  speak.  He  will
declare  to  you things that are coming.
(WEB)
1Th 5:19
Do not  quench  the Spirit; (TCNT)
Mr 3:28-29
28
Truly, I  say to you, all  sins  will  be  forgiven  the sons of men, and
whatever blasphemies  they utter;
(RSV)
29 But  he  who blasphemes against  the Set-apart (Holy)  Spirit never  shall
have forgiveness, but  is liable to eternal  condemnation
. (MKJV)
There  is  a movement concerning the  TRUE  PERSONAL  NAMES of the  Heavenly
Father and  His Son. The  Hebrew  Names are  truly Scriptural,  the tetragrammaton
YHWH is in the  Old Covenant Scriptures almost 7,000  times!  Would you
consider that Scriptural?  I would, but  the UCG  pastor  said  that  it  was
unscriptural,  demonic,  and divisive.
I  truly pray for  this  pastor  and for  his flock, I  do  not have any  ill will toward
any  of  them. THEY ARE  OUR BROTHERS AND  SISTERS!!!
I  would now  like  to  conclude  this  study paper  with  another wonderful, heartfelt,
writing  by  my  believing soul mate!  Truly be edified!
"John  17:17"
What is your conviction ~ do  you stand  up  for the  truth?
Some stay on the  same  page  for whatever reason,  they  don't even question or ask  why.
As believers  we  are admonished to grow in grace  and knowledge  (2 Pet 3:18),
the  truth of the  matter  we  cannot  deny  (John 17:17).
Does the  truth matter to you? Or do you  let others influence  your  thinking?
We can  never let  our guard  down, we need to search the  Scriptures  daily (Acts  17:11),
by the  Set-apart Spirit we wish to be led.
In Jeremiah 8:8  it  says  some  cover up the  truth to their  own destruction.
Always be ready  to  give  an  answer  with  the hope that lies within (1 Peter 3:15).
Get  all your facts  together  so  others  may see, for  every idle word you  speak ~
you  will  be  held  accountable (Mat 12:36).
Beware of those who supress the truth (Rom 1:18), for even the elect can be deceived  (Mat  24:24).
Make sure your testimony  is  accurate  as  possible, know and  practice  what  you believe.
How Does Your Garden Grow? Spiritual  Gardening.
In this study…we’re  going to try  our hand at gardening…our  spiritual lives  parallel  a garden
from start  to  finish. As a  physical  garden  requires  good  soil, good seed,  sufficient  water,
and  sun light…our  spiritual gardens  need  the same ingredients  as  well.
Let’s  get busy at growing  our garden!
Good Soil
As we begin  our garden,  good  soil  is  so  important,  as  we  will  see in the  Scriptures.
First, let’s  look  at  the results  of
not having  good  soil:
Matt 13:3   Then he told them many things in parables,  saying:
A  farmer  went  out to sow  his seed.
4 As he was scattering the  seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.
5 Some fell on rocky  places, where  it  did not  have  much  soil. It sprang up quickly,
because  the soil was  shallow.
6   But  when  the sun  came  up, the  plants  were  scorched, and  they  withered  because
they had no root.
7
Other  seed  fell  among thorns,  which grew up and  choked  the plants. (NIV)
Luke 8:5   A  sower went out  to  sow his  seed. And  as  he  sowed,  some  fell  by  the wayside;
and  it  was trampled down,  and the  birds of the  air devoured it.
6   Some fell on rock;  and as soon as it sprang up,  it  withered  away  because it
lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among  thorns, and  the thorns sprang up with it and  choked  it.
(NKJ)
Let’s  see what this ‘not  so  good  soil’ has  to  do  with  our spiritual  lives:
Matt 13:19   When anyone hears  the word of the  kingdom,  and does not  understand  it,
the  evil  one comes  and snatches away what has  been  sown  in  his heart
. This is the
one  on  whom  seed  was sown beside the  road.
20 And  the one  on  whom  seed  was sown on the  rocky places,  this  is  the man  who
hears  the word,  and immediately  receives  it  with  joy;
21
yet  he  has no firm root in himself, but  is  only  temporary,  and  when  affliction
or persecution arises because  of  the word,  immediately he falls  away.
22 And  the one  on  whom  seed  was sown among  the thorns,  this  is  the man  who
hears  the word,
and  the worry  of  the world, and  the deceitfulness  of  riches
choke the  word, and it becomes  unfruitful.
(NAS)
We must be very careful  where we plant  our seed,  this  is  not the  kind  of  garden  that  we  want.
We want to reap good things,  to  be  plentiful and  fruitful.
A  garden, physical or spiritual, takes  continual work.
Now  we’ll look at the  results of having good soil,  the results  of  working hard,
getting  our hands  dirty and  callused:
Matt 13:23   And  the one  on  whom  seed  was sown on the  good soil,  this  is  the man  who
hears  the word and  understands it;  who indeed
bears  fruit,  and brings forth,
some a  hundredfold,  some  sixty,  and some thirty.
(NAS)
Luke 8:15   But  the ones that fell on the  good  ground are  those who,
having heard  the word with a  noble and  good  heart,
keep it and  bear fruit  with  patience.
(NKJ)
Our  Father  in  Heaven  wants us not  only  to  be  fruitful, but  to  be  very fruitful:
John 15:1 I  am  the true vine,  and My Father is the  vinedresser.
2 Every  branch  in  Me  that  does  not bear fruit, He takes  away; and  every branch
that bears  fruit,  He  prunes  it, that it may  bear  more  fruit.
8 By this is My Father esteemed (glorified), that you  bear  much  fruit,  and so prove  to  be
My disciples.
(NAS)
Water
Water  is  the next ingredient for our  garden:
John 3:5   (Jesus)  Yahshua  answered, Verily,  verily, I  say unto you, Except a  man be
born of water and  of  the Spirit,  he  cannot  enter into the  kingdom of (God) Elohim
. (KJV)
Acts 2:38   Then Peter  said  to  them, Repent,  and let  every one  of  you be immersed (baptized)
in the  name  of (Jesus) Yahshua
(Christ) Messiah for  the remission  of  sins; and  you shall  receive
the  gift  of  the (Holy) Set-apart
Spirit.
(NKJ)
41 Then those  who gladly received his  word  were  immersed  (baptized);  and that day  about
three  thousand  souls were added  to  them.
(NKJ)
(Strong’s) 907 baptizo (bap-tid'-zo);
from a  derivative  of  911;
to immersesubmerge;  to  make  overwhelmed
(i.e.
fully  wet); used  only  (in the  N. T.)  of  ceremonial  ablution,
especially (technically)  of  the ordinance  of  Christian baptism: KJV-- Baptist,  baptize,  wash.
Rom 6:4   Therefore  we  have  been  buried with Him through  immersion (baptism) into death,
in order  that  as  (Christ)
Messiah was  raised  from  the dead through  the esteem (glory) of  the Father,
so we too  might walk in newness  of  life
.
For  if  we  have  become  united  with  Him in the  likeness  of  His death, certainly  we shall  be  also
in the  likeness  of  His resurrection,
6 knowing  this, that our  old self was  crucified with Him, that our  body  of  sin might  be  done
away with,  that  we  should  no  longer  be  slaves  to  sin;
7 for  he  who has  died  is  freed from sin. (freed  from  our death  penalty)
8
Now  if  we  have  died  with  (Christ) Messiah,  we  believe that we shall  also  live  with Him (NAS)
Col 2:12   buried with Him in immersion (baptism)in which  you also were raised with Him
through  faith in the  working of God
(Elohim)who  raised  Him from the  dead.
13 And  you,  being dead in your trespasses and  the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has  made
alive  together  with  Him,  having forgiven you  all trespasses
(NKJ)
John 4:14 But  whosoever drinks of the  water that I  shall give him  shall never  thirst;
but  the water  that  I shall  give  him shall  be  in  him
a  well  of  water springing  up
into everlasting  life
.
(KJV)
John 4:14   but  whoever drinks the  water I  give  him will never  thirst. Indeed,  the water
I give him  will  become  in  him a  spring  of  water welling  up  to
eternal  life.
(NIV)
Our  bodies  are made up of a  high  concentration of water…without  water,  our physical bodies
would  wither  away  in  a very short  period  of  time.
A  physical  garden  will  do  the same…will  dry up and  cease to exist. Do you  see the parallels
between  the spiritual  and the  physical?
Sun light
This is also a  vital part of growing  a fruitful,  productive  garden.
The  same  is  so  very  important in our  spiritual lives:
Matt 5:14   You  are the  light of the  world.  A city that is set  on  a hill cannot be hidden.
15   Nor  do  they  light a  lamp  and put  it  under a  basket, but  on  a lampstand, and  it  gives light
to all  who are  in  the house.
16
Let  your  light so shine  before  men,  that  they  may see  your  good  works
and  esteem (glorify)   your  Father  in  heaven.
(NKJ)
Mal 4:2
But  to  you who  fear  My  name  the Sun  of  Righteousness shall  arise with healing
in His wings; and  you shall  go  out and  grow  fat like stall-fed  calves.
(NKJ)
We need the  light from above shining  brightly  from  within  us…so that others can  see our  good works…
not  that  any esteem will be directed toward us,
but  that  the esteem will be directed to the
Most High,  our Heavenly Father.
Without  this  light, our  spiritual garden will be over- grown  with  the weeds of the  flesh:
Gal 5:19 Now  the deeds  of  the flesh  are evident, which  are:  immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry,  sorcery,  enmities, strife,  jealousy, outbursts  of  anger,  disputes, dissensions, factions,
21
envying, drunkenness, carousing, and  things  like  these,  of  which I  forewarn  you just as
I  have  forewarned  you that those  who practice such things shall  not inherit
the  kingdom of
(God) Elohim. (NAS)
Gal 5:19 The  acts  of  the sinful nature are  obvious:  sexual  immorality,
 impurity  and debauchery;
20 idolatry and  witchcraft; hatred,  discord,  jealousy, fits of rage,  selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions
21 and  envy; drunkenness, orgies,  and the  like. I  warn  you,  as  I did  before, that those  who
live like this will not  inherit the  kingdom of
(God) Elohim
. (NIV)
Weeding  is  not the  most  favored thing  when it comes  to  gardening,  but as a  physical  garden
requires weeding,  so  does  our spiritual  garden. Why?
Weeds  take  nutrients from the  good  plants,
weeds  in  our spiritual  garden  will
choke any  good  works, and  will  dim  the  light that should be
shining  brightly from within us.
Now  we’ll do some planting in our  spiritual garden:
Matt 5:9   Blessed  are the  peacemakers,  for they shall  be  called  sons  of (God)  Elohim.
(NAS)
Phil 4:7   And  the peace  of (God) Elohim,  which transcends all  understanding,  will  guard
your hearts and  your  minds in
(Christ) Messiah (Jesus) Yahshua. (NIV)
Secondly,  we’ll plant  squash:
Squash gossip,  squash  indifference, squash grumbling, Squash selfishness;
Prov 26:20   Without  wood  a fire goes out; without  gossip  a quarrel  dies  down. (NIV)
Eccl 12:14 For  (God) Elohim will bring  every work into judgment,  including every
secret thing, whether good or evil
.
(NKJ)
Thirdly, we’ll  plant lettuce:
 let us be faithful,  let us be kind,  let us be happy, let us love one another;
John 13:35 By this all  will  know  that  you are  My  disciples,
if you  have  love
for one another.
(NKJ)
Eph 4:32 Be kind and  compassionate to  one another,  forgiving each other,
 just  as  in
(Christ) Messiah
(God) Elohim forgave  you. (NIV)
Next we’ll  plant some turnips: Turnips
Turnips.
turn up for  service when needed,
turn up to help one  another,
 turn  up  the music  and dance,
 turn  up  the servants attitude;
Lastly,  we’ll plant  thyme:
time for  fun,  time  for rest,
Thyme
time for ourselves,
time for  Elohim  (prayer and  bible study),
time for  family;
This will be a  very  fruitful  and productive garden,  it  will  take  a lot  of  hard  work.
Have fun  planting  and growing  your  garden!
May  Yahweh  Bless   JDLW
